Answer: Nonsteroid hormones are going to act from milliseconds to minutes times on the cell surface receptors so that triggering of downstream events within the cell. For example, adrenaline and nor-adrenaline are the neurotransmitters and hormones, which act in a short period followed by quickly declining response. Steroid hormones often take longer to produce downstream events because they act on the \"nuclear receptors\" after diffusing through plasma membrane
