three quarters voted for the bill => voted for =(3/4)x

25% voted against it =>voted against =(25/100)x =(1/4)x

18 more Senators voted for the bill than voted against it

=>(3/4)x -(1/4)x =18

=>(1/2)x =18

=>x =2*18

=>x =36

so number of senaters =36
