The project engineer in your automobile manufacturing design room wants you to design a mechanism that will open and close a valve continuously over a distance D with time duration T for each cycle of opening and closing. The situation is depicted below in the sketch. Using design synthesis, suggest three distinct ways of solving the problem, explaining why each configuration is suitable.

Solution

1. solenoid valve;

by using a solenoid spool we can give the opening ans closing of the valve. in this what we cna do is use the spring backed solenoid valve. Every time when the solenoid will enerzised it will dislace the spool with travelling distance of D and again after the de enerzise of the solenoid because of the spring it will get back to the position and it will close again.

2. using bar mechanism

Us the rotating bar in the middle of the D distance. Now the bar shold be rotate ta constant very low rpm. Every time it will touch the wall level it will rotate the valve and so it will open and again at second position it will touch the valve level and so it will close it by rotating the level. The rotating bar should make enough contact to open and close the valve by pushing the lever.

3. To and fro motin relay

by means of moving the relay in between the distance D from A to B. the relay can make motion of to and fro. That way it can touch closing position and opening position of the valve. Each time once it will touch the lever it will open the flow. and next time by travelling distance D it will change the lever position in close condtion. so in that way it can open and close the valve in the specific time interval.
