Let x = speed of jet

y = speed of wind

d = rt

4x - 4y = 2680

7x + 7y = 6230.....[multiplying through 4/7 to eliminate y]

4x - 4y = 2680

4x + 4y = 3560

8x = 6240

x = 6240/8

x = 780 mph..speed of jet

4*780 - 4y = 2680

3120 - 4y = 2680

4y = 3120 - 2680

4y = 440

y = 110mph.....speed of wind
