Effect of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis:
Experiment:
For this experiment we need sample plant or any sun tolerant plant ,test tube, funnel beaker, water, 4 bulbs with diff light intensities (20w,40w,60w,100w)
Procedure: in this experiment the sample plant should be placed in carbon dioxide sensor chamber and we need to supply on all the raw materials required for photosynthesis. While the plant is carrying out photosynthesis then the amount of carbon dioxide that is being consumed should be recorded. Later the same plant should be left in dark room where it carries only cellular respiration, again the amount of carbon dioxide that is being liberated during respiration must be calculated and this value must be subtracted from the amount of C02 consumed. Thus we will get the actual amount of carbon dioxide that is being consumed during photosynthesis.
In this way the light tolerant plant must be exposed to different watt bulbs and the amount of Co2 being consumed during photosynthesis must be calculated. the higher the consumption of carbon dioxide the greater will be the rate of photosynthesis.
Observation: in this experiment it was found that the sample plant carried out photosynthesis at a faster rate when exposed to the light with intensity 100 watt.
