What is replication when referring to experiments?

Solution

Replication means repitition of experiments.

This repitition of the same experiments to a given sample gives a more accurate data, as repeated experiments give a fairly comparative estimate for the variability.

For example, in a class of 50 students, average score is to be recorded and ranked. If we take a single test, this may give a biased result due to a particular student absent, not well or paper very easy etc.

But repeated tests in the academic year are performed for the same class i.e. when replication is done, this uncertainty or unreliability of data is almost made nil as a repeated process gives a more accurate result. Also any student can be checked for consistency in the marks scored in all subject, thus avoiding getting good marks due to copying, etc
