y 12 x2 5x 3SolutionY x22 5x 3 Applying quadratic root

y = 1/2 x^2 + 5x - 3

Solution

Y = x^2/2 + 5x -3

Applying quadratic root formula to find the roots of the equation:

y= ax^2+bx +c

x = ( -b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) )/2a

compaing the given equation with standard equation we get:

a = 1/2 ; b= 5 ; c =- 3

x = ( -5 +/- sqrt( 25 +4*3/2 )/2*(1/2)

= ( -5 + /- sqrt (31)/1

x= -5 + sqrt31

x = -5 - sqrt31

These are two roots of the equation

 y = 1/2 x^2 + 5x - 3SolutionY = x^2/2 + 5x -3 Applying quadratic root formula to find the roots of the equation: y= ax^2+bx +c x = ( -b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) )/2
