I am not sure how to do this chemical bonds: amino acid interactions portion of my homework. Help?

what type of amino acid side chain would it interact what wowad win with interaction he itively charged side polar side chain negatively charged side chains nonpolar side chains

Solution

Basically amino acids are 4 types:

1:Non-Polar amino acids: \"amino acids with no charge and non-polar side chains\" glycine, alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, proline, phenylalanine, methionine, and tryptophan. These are hydrophobic in nature. and form 3D structure in aquous solutions.

2: Polar, Non charged amino acids:  \"amino acids with no charge, polar side chains\" serine, cysteine, threonine, tyrosine, asparagine, and glutamine. and these are hydrophilic in nature and have atleast one atom(either N,O,S with electron pair) to bond with water in their srtucture.

3: Acidic amino acids: \"Amino acids with positive side chains\" Aspartic acid and Glutamic acid both have acidic group in their structure and can ionise into aspartate and glutamate which can form ionic bonds. Proteins with these side chains are known as metalloproteins.

4. Basic amino acids: \"Amino acids with negative side chains\"Arginine(pKa=12.5), Histidine and Lysine

Reactions of amino acids: amino acids undergo many chemical reactions of which peptide bond formation (many amino acid will combine and form protien) and cysteine oxidation are important which effects on protein structure.
