What is the known mode of inheritance of the ABO blood pheno

What is the known mode of inheritance of the ABO blood phenotypes? Can you use the data in the table above (Question 6) to interpret the mode of inheritance of the ABO blood phenotypes? If so, explain why these data indicate this mode of inheritance. If not, explain why these data can not be used to determine the mode of inheritance. Table 1: ABO Blood phenotypes in our class Table 2: Chi-Square test x^2 = ________ Degrees of freedom (df) = _______ ________ > P> _________

Solution

A. Ans: The ABO blood groups of human beings are determined by the ABO gene present on the chromosome 9 in the Human DNA. The four different types of blood groups are A, B, O, AB which arise due to the inheritance of any one of the alternate forms or alleles of the ABO genes.

OO

A and B alleles are expressed on the red blood cells. A and B alleles are co dominant and the antigens are expressed. But O allele does not produce any A or B antigen. the A and B alleles are expressed whenever the gene is present. And O is silent and it is expressed when there is no A and B alleles.

7. B) Please provide the table from Question 6. Also please explain if the below is the related to the 7.B question.

But from the above data

chi-square random variable 2 = [ (Oi - Ei)2 / Ei ] = Sum of [ (Oi - Ei)2 / Ei ]= 5.24

Degrees of freedom (Number of rows -1)(Number of columns-1) = (4-1)(2-1)=3

Using  chi square distribution chart we can determine the propability value using 2  and degrees of freedom is 0.155043, which is not the significant results.
