Solution

First of all Engineers analyse and make their analysis easy by using SYSTEM Approach.

This system approach can be done by two methods

!.) Control Mass Approach : It is a system in which mass or matter is fixed. It is a closed system.

For example : If we have to design a Turbines tower and do stuctural analysis we will have to take Turbine tower as a closed system.

2) Control Volume approach : But on the contrary , in this approach engineers select a volumetric region in which mass can transfer.

For example ? If we have to design Turbines efficiency.

Control Volume approach ?is very useful in fluid mechanics. It can be constant control volume or variable control volume. This helps Engineers to Understand the fluid behaviour as a whole mass and not as a single fuid particle. It is very difficult to analyse a single fluid particle behaviour. Hence, to overcome this difficulty engineers uses this appproach.
