32 x2

3-2 (x-2)<4 (1-2x)
Solve the following inequality and graph the solution set on a number line.

Solution

Solve the inequality just like you would a regular equation. I don\'t want to just hand you the answer here so let\'s do one similar.

4-3(x-1)<5(2-3x)

Start by using the distributive property on the () then solve for x

4-3x+3<10-15x ---> 12x< 3 ---> x<3/12 which simplifies to x<1/4

Now we need to graph on a number line. We know that x is all numbers less than 1/4 so we want it to look like this:

<======(-3)=========(-2)=========(-1)=========0==(1/4)-------(1)----------(2)------>

The bold = is what your line should be on the number line and remember to start at 1/4 but do not fill in a circle at 1/4 because x is not equal to 1/4 so a hollow circle over 1/4 is what we would put here.
