In your own words, describe how photosynthesis the basis for survival of all complex lifeforms On earth.

Solution

Photosynthesis is a complex process by which plants and other organisms in the ecosystem with the help of sunlight converts light energy into chemical energy which is later used as a source of energy (transformation of energy). The stored energy always remains in the form of sugars, which are synthesized from carbon dioxide and water. So the name is Photosynthesis i.e, synthesized by light. The other important advantage of this phenomenon is production of oxygen.

Photosynthesis seems to be a source of producing and maintaining the level of oxygen on this earth and fulfill the entire energy requirement necessary for the life on the earth. It provides the basic energy source for virtually all organisms.

The byproducts of photosynthesis are very useful for various organisms on this ecosystem for various purposes.
