I dont know question 8 or 9 on the picture Does a conoscope

I don\'t know question 8 or 9 on the picture. Does a conoscope have to be used to show birefringence or does a monoscope have to be used? and which is used to determine the optical sign a monoscope a conoscope or both?

b. --igh Power Objedne Lens inera Grai C. d. e. Choose the best answer form the list at the right, referring still to the above diagram: 7) Is the condenser lens shown on the above diagram? 8) Which view path shown above is used for determining a. on the left b. on the right c. neither d. both birefringence? 9) Which view path shown above is used for determining optical sign?

Solution

Conoscopy is used to examine the interference figures in the focal plane of the microscope objective lens produced by an anisotropic crystalline section viewed under convergent light illumination and crossed polars.Consocopy is the technique used mainly to examine the uniaxial and biaxial nature of the crystals and to study the optical sign of the biaxial crystal. The interference pattern of light will make colour ful birefringence pattern and some time parabolic patters which depends on the optical nature of the crystal .

on the other hand monoscopy is used to to display a still image which was used in 1980´s . monoscopy is simillar to Cathod ray tube or small old Television set. Monoscopy displays a still image on the screen.
