Using a DSI# D4012 34 56, for parameter values, design a band-pass filter having the following criteria:

In this example, the student would be designing a filter having a resonant frequency fR = 34kHz, and a Q = 5.6 (Note to take the last two digits and divide by 10.)

Show all of your calculations to support your design.

Try to use realistic values. Since all of the resonant frequencies are between 10kHz and 99kHz, you should be able to select reasonable values that might actually exist. For example, if I were shooting for 34kHz as in this example, I might use a 0.01mF capacitor and a 2.2mH inductor. I could also use a 1F capacitor and a 22pH inductor, that would also theoretically get me a resonant frequency of 34kHz, but neither of those values are realistic or commonly available.

Test your design using MultiSim.

Use Excel to plot the response curve. Include in your submission.

Indicate in your calculations and on the response curve the values of the lower and upper cutoff frequencies, f1 and f2.

Show your work. Attach additional pages if necessary.

Solution

fR = 41 Khz

F1 = 34 kHz

LI = 2.2 mH , C = 2.2mH

R = 2(L/C) 0.5 = 41.2 ohm
