Free security options are available online; but do these programs provide sufficient security?  Or will sufficient security need to be paid for? Background: Free security software is readily available online.  In most cases, these are programs which offer fewer features than paidfor software such as the free versions of AdAware or Avast.  A small number of completely free programs is available as well.

Task: Select a free security software package and a paidfor product.

Task: Evaluate the two software products you have selected, focusing on the categories of firewalls, antivirus, and antispyware.  Base your evaluation on software features and independent reviews in order to have an objective evaluation.

Task: Write up your comparison of the free and paidfor security software products.  For each category, would you recommend a free or paid for software package? Do you feel the products provide sufficient security, or do they leave gaps that can be exploited?

Task: Finally, consider the needs of organizations versus individuals.  Do their needs for PCbased security differ, or can security software products sufficiently protect both?

Solution

See there are number of security options that are readily available online, which may be free and paid. Depending upon the software to software the difference in every aspect can be substantial, in regards to features and security properties that we require. Let’s suppose we take two different software assuming AVG and Norton software which are two different security program available free as well as paid. I believe Norton is considered very high security as compared to AVG and has got more feature compatibility towards Virus attacking to system. Internet security is believed more in Norton than AVG with the feature that it can heal many malicious attacks and virus in your system than AVG. Norton that is paid –security software is quite heavy software than what we have AVG since it has high compatibility features than AVG and doesn’t shown sign of crash which one will see in AVG. Once you pay for something definitely you get support as well from any related issues to the software’s from different 3rd part companies. Norton acts more potently in firewall systems that can give you limited access towards the non-secure internet sites which is somehow lacking in free software. Basically firewall does not allow you to enter into the sites that can cause harm to your computer, so Norton does have a good job over here in this regard. Look in an organisation systems are more secured in every aspect from being attacked to the malicious activity and their systems do not differ from individuals since the work of paid security software does not differ from system to system. And it is highly recommended for each and every companies to have security protocol to the system so that third person or intruder may not indulge into the malicious activity. So with respect to these features and observations, paid security is much more reliable and stable than what we have free security available online. Sometimes free security software are itself a breach towards security.
