Higher the undulations of the ground, closer will be the spacing between the points chosen. The spacings are chosen closely in order to have more accurate profile of the ground. In the fig, it is clear that at each stations one point is taken. And in between some stations where there is more undulations in the ground, more no. of points are being taken for the reason mentioned above.
