Suppose it is known that in a certain population 10% of the population is colorblind. If a random sample of 25 people is drawn, what is the probability that one or more will be colorblind?

Solution

There are only two outcomes either colourblind or not.

and each person being colour blind is independent of other.

Hence X no of persons colourblind is binomial with p = 0.10 and n =25

the probability that one or more will be colorblind

= P(X>=1)

=1-P(X=0)

= 0.9282
