Most of the time the cell is in which of these portions of the cell cycle? Why is this advantageous?
Solution
Answer:- The cell cycle consists of mainly interphase and mitosis phase. The interphase is further decided into G1phase (first Gap phase here cell prepares synthesis of proteins required DNA replication), S phase (in this replication DNA starts and completes) G2 phase (second Gap phase) then separation of chromosomes occur during m phase. Every phase is important as there are cell cycle check points at each phase that regulate the transition from one phase to another depending upon the condition of cell DNA, mutation, alignment of chromosomes etc. If any of faults are present in the DNA the transition from one phase to another will not take place.
