Match the amount of ATP that would be generated in each situ

Match the amount of ATP that would be generated in each situation to the single letter representing that amount- Each answer should be used only a single time. Some answers will not be used. A fermentative organism that converts two molecules of glucose-6- phosphate through to 1, 3 bisphospboglycerate. An anaerobic organism that utilizes group translocation to take in a single glucose and metabolizes that sugar only through PEP. A fermentative organism that metabolizes three molecules of PEP to pyruvate. An anaerobic respiratory organism that converts two molecules of pyruvate through the Kreb cycle. An aerobic respiratory organism that converts only a single Fructose 1, 6 bisphosphates only through 1, 3 bis-phosphoglycerate. Net 25 ATP gamed. Need more information. Net 3 ATP gained. Net 5 ATP gained. Not 2 ATP lost. Net 2 ATP gained. Net 3 ATP lost. Net 28.5 ATP gained. NET 2.5 ATP gained. Assume that a cell has a unique set of enzymes that carries out glycolysis in a manner where none of the Intermediates pile up. Briefly explain if or how glucose uptake would be affect and why for each of these systems. Facilitated diffusion. Active transport. Group translocation.

Solution

Ans 26. A fermentative organism that converts two molecules of glucose 6 phosphate through to 1,3 bisphosphoglycerate is hexokinase

Ans :- Facillated diffusion:- It is a passive transport mechanism in which carrier protein shuttle molecules across the cell membrane without using the cell\'s energy supplies. Instead the energy is provided by concentration gradient which means the molecules are transported from higher concentration to lower concentration into or out of the cell. The protein binds to glucose which causes them to change shape and translocate the glucose from one side of the membrane to the other.

Active transport:- It is the movement of molecules across a cell membrane from a region of their lower concentration to a region of higher concentration against some gradient. The glucose uptake is generally due to secondary active transport where energy is used to transport molecules across a membrane .

Group translocation:- In active transport solute molecules move acrossa membrane without modification. PEP group translocation is a distinct method used by the bacteria for sugar uptake where the source of energy is from PEP.It is known as multicomponent system that always involves enzyme of the plasma membrane and those in the cytoplasm.

Match the amount of ATP that would be generated in each situation to the single letter representing that amount- Each answer should be used only a single time.
