What is a Snoopy CACHE? What problem does it solve? What type of computer would use it?

Solution

Snoopy Cache-

It is basically use to maintain data integrity where shared data is accessed by several processors,Suppose processor \'P1\' may read some data or value from memory and after that processor \'P2\' reads the same information. Now, If either of the processors now change the data orvalue by writing back to memory they will invalidate the value read by the other processor.

In order to maintain and prevent this cache coherence, snoopy caches monitor (\'snoop on\') the memory bus to detect any writes to values that they are holding currently, including changes coming from other processors or distributed computers on other networks

Snoopy caches are used in systems where many processors or computers share the same piece of memory and each processor have their own cache. Snoopy caches also work in computer architectures where a single memory bus is shared between all processors.
