i missed school because i was sick and missed how to do inequalities. I looked it up and it looks really confusing!!! Can you help!?!?!?!?

Solution

You solve inequalities in much the same way as you solve equations. The major difference is that when you multiply or divide both sides by a negative number, you must flip the inequality.

Here is an example.

Strict inequality (< or >):

5 - 2x < x - 1

-2x < x - 6 ? Subtraction of 5 from both sides.

-3x < -6 ? Subtraction of x from both sides.

x > 2 ? Division of both sides by -3. Inequality is flipped because -3 is negative.
