Two cars are 295 mi apart and traveling toward each other On

Two cars are 295 mi apart and traveling toward each other. One car travels 10 mph faster than the other car. The cars meet in 2.5 h. Find the speed of each car.

Solution

D=R*T
295=(X+X+10)2.5
295=(2X+10)2.5
295=5X+25
5X=295-25
5X=270
X=270/5
X=54 FOR THE SLOWER CAR.
54+10=64 FOR THE FASTER CAR.
PROOF:
295=(54+64)2.5
295=118*2.5
295=295
