All the activities of designig and producing the container for a product is called Packaging. Well designed packages can build brand equity and drive sales. the package is the buyers first encounter with the product and is capable of turning the buyer o or off.

The three fuction of packaging are:

(i) Product Identification:

Packaging serves as an identification of the product. A product is packed in special sized, coloured and shaped container for keeping its difference from the products of competitors.

(ii) Product Protection:

The main function of packaging is to provide protection to the product from dirt, insects, dampness and breakage. For example, the products like biscuit, jam, chips, etc., need to be protected from environmental contact. That is why they are tightly packed.

(iii) Convenience:

Packaging provides convenience in the carriage of the product from one place to another, in stocking and in consuming. Consumers are willing to pay a little more for the convenience, appearence, dependability and prestige of better packages.

I went to purchase wheat flour(Atta) from grocery shop. I picked one 5kg bag. The bad about the packaging of that bag was that i was not able to carry it in hand. It was not convenient to carry it in hand. Though the packaging was good but if it had handle to carry i dont have to spend extra money to get one carry bag to carry the Wheat Flour(Atta) bag.

Dumping is the export of products at less than \"normal value,\" often defined as the price at which those products are sold in the home market. Since its inception, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) has authorized signatories to apply duties to offset dumping when it causes, or threatens to cause, material injury to an industry in the territory of a GATT member.

Dumping is controversial issue because it leads to the erosion and in some cases the disappearance of industries in markets where dumping is occurring for reasons unrelated to the relative competitiveness of those industries—put most simply, dumping enables less efficient firms to prevail over more efficient firms in international competition.
