water flowing through expansion pipe at point A velocity is

water flowing through expansion pipe. at point A velocity is 1m/s and pressure is 5psig. Determine presure at point B with a velocity of .25m/s assume no friction

Solution

Given that,

P1 = 1 m / s

V1 = 5 Psig

V2 = 0.25 m / s

We need to find that Pressure at point B

And also knowned

P1 -P2 = [ 1 / 2 ] [ V1 - V2 ]                    [ since there is no friction and assumed density value is 1 cm3 ]

1 -P2 = [ 1 / 2 ] [ 5 - 0.25 ]

1 -P2 = [ 0.5 ] [ 3.15 - 0.25 ]                     [ converting psig to m ]

1 -P2 = [ 0.5 ] [ 2.9 ]

1 -P2 = 1.45

-P2 = 1.45 - 1

P2 = - 0.45 m/s
