How do homeobox (hox) genes show deep homology among several taxa with very different body plans ?

Since HOX GENE help embryo body plan developmet from head to tail axis; and they all are transcription factors , since transcriptional factors have a DNA binding domain AND activation domain ..... and what we have found that DNA BINDING domain in all Homeobox genes is conserved and constitutes a different family ofprotien domain called homeodomain, though activation domain sequence differs.

so it is because of this HOMEODOMAIN region they show deep homology among varied taxa.
