Graph the iec awise-defined function. Use the graph to determine the domain and range of the function. f(x) - {-3x if x 0 Choose the correct graph below.

Solution

given function is

f(X) = -3x   if x<=3

      = 3x+2 if x>3

the domain means all the values which f(x) can take

range means , keeping the domain values in f(x) and finding all the values

so here for all values of x = (- infinite , 3) we use f(x) = -3x

for x =(3 to infinite) we use f(x) = 3x+2

the domain is ( -infinite, infinte) there are no restrictions on x

now plug some x values which are given in the graph , find out f(X) value if f(x) is equal to the y coordinate then it is the correct graph
