In a 15uL PCR reaction you have added 02uM of each dNTP How

In a 15uL PCR reaction, you have added 0.2uM of each dNTP. How many moles of dNTP have you added?

Solution

Molar (M), defined as moles of solute per liter of solution.

Moles of solute= Molarity x Liters of solution

Moles of dNTP= 0.2 µMx 1 M/106 µM x 15 µL x 1 L/106 µL = 3 x 10-12 moles or 3 x 10-6 µmoles

3 x 10-6 µmoles of each dNTP was added to the PCR solution.
