Diversity can come in several packages, or in some cases, combinations of packages that include age, education and training, cultural background, experience, and work responsibilities. What have been your experiences working with others whose diversity characters differ from your own? (Answer in APA format with a reference and in one to two paragraphs)

My experience working with diverse characters is that it brings more professionalism in the team. The behaviour is more formal. Each team member understands its responsibilities well.

The contribution of different skills makes in a same project improves the quality of deliverables. For example, a finance guy analysing some report is provided data by a some guy, who collects the data from various sources using a tool developed by an IT guy. This also defines the work responsibilities of each and every team member. If the team member would have all the people from similar skill set, it would be difficult to assign work responsibilities that require very different skill set. The different skillset required for the project also demand people from different educational background and different training.

The only thing that I found difficult is to adjust with people with different cultural background. It takes some time to adjust with the people with different cultural background and it takes time for personal relationship to be build. As on a lunch table or leisure time they don’t have common topic to discuss. It is difficult to find common traits among people of diverse background, which is necessary for personal relationship building.
