A pentagon is obtained by clipping off, with a straight cut, a very small isosceles triangle at one of the corners of a square. Is this pentagon a tile? Explain.

Solution

If you cut an isosceles triangle at the corner of a square you will get a pentagon whose three angle are of 90 degree.

The side length of two sides are same and the two side which are cutted by the isosceles triangle have same length.

Till now we have 14 types of pentagonal tiles and non of them have 3 angles equal to 90 degree. So we can say that this is not a pentagonal tile.
