Describe the changes in the graph from fx to g x for f x sq

Describe the changes in the graph from f(x) to g (x) for f (x) = squareroot x and g(x) = 1/4 squareroot x + 2 - 4

Solution

f(x) = sqrt(x) ; g(x) = (1/4)[ sqrt(x+2) - 4]

transformation : shift f(x) to left by 2 units: sqrt(x+2)

compress sqrt(x+2) vertically by 1/4 units : (1/4)sqrt(x+2)

shif vertically dow by 4 units : (1/4)sqrt(x+2) - 4

we get g(x) = (1/4)sqrt(x+2) - 4
