Part 1 – For questions 1 through 4
During the school year, Jane the 5th grade teacher has a variety of ways to assess the progress of her children. Please supply the appropriate test based on the additional information given in each question.
Question #1 – Jane decides to divide her class into two groups so she can determine which group she should spend more time with. She calls these groups the smart group and the dumb group. If she tests both groups first, then gives them both additional instruction, and then tests them again, which test is most appropriate? (2 point)
Question #2 – Jane decides to divide her class into three groups so she can determine which group she should spend more time with. She calls these groups the smart group, the so-so group, and the dumb group. If she tests all groups once on only their math ability, which test is most appropriate? (2 points)
Solution
1) For this type of data and sampling the most appropriate tess would be T-TEST.
T- Test allows you to compare the means and standard deviations of the two groups to see whether there is a statistically significant difference between them. For example, you could test the heights of the members of two different biology classes.
