There are various techniques to test whether a Bacteria is motile or not. Semi solid agar is used to see motility where the concentration of agar is 2%. Mannitol motility agar is most commonly used. If this media is inoculated with motile bacteria, growth can be seen as diffusing from the point of inoculation.
