If a pipe burst and immediately created a flow of water comparable to a medium size stream/river, would you expect the same conditions & organisms as a natural medium sized stream/river? List each and explain.

Solution

The same organisms as in a natural stream/river cannot be expected in a pipe burst with the same amount of flow of the size of the river.

-This is because a pipe does not have the same physiological/ environmental conditions as present in the river environment.

- most of the microbes coming in the river water come from the soil environment. Since the soil environment will not be present in a pipe.

- Moreover, in the river environment there might be fishes found, which cannot be found in a pipe.

- Also, there might be some crustaceans found in fresh water like scuds , sea shrimps.

- tadpoles are also found in fresh water, also some mosquito larvae, water mits, snails, various kinds of nymphs and also larvae of mosquitoes and various flies.
