in case of severe somatic mutatio, this may lead to growth of cancer tumor. cancer is the result of somatic mutation. which if malignant, proves to be lethal. this occurs when protooncogene of the somatic cell gets mutated. oncogene turns on and carcinogenesis begins. the somatic cell divides by mitosis. all daughter cells have this mutation and the main characteristc of the mutated somatic cell is uncontrolled cell division.
