Factor the polynomial. 4 ,2

1) -4x^4y^2 + 20xy^3 + 8xy^4

= 4xy^2( -x^3 +5y +2y^2) ------>Taking out common factor

= 4xy^2( -x^3 +5y +2y^2)

2) x^2 -7 x+6

factorise: x^2 -6x -x +6

= x( x-6) -1( x-6)

=(x-1)(x-6)

4) 25y^4 - 121x^2

Using the formula : a^2 -b^2 = ( a+b)(a-b)

25y^4 - 121x^2 = (5y^2)^2 - (11x)^2

= ( 5y^2 -11)( 5y^2 +11x)

5) 36x^2 -16y^2

Using the formula : a^2 -b^2 = ( a+b)(a-b)

36x^2 -16y^2 = (6x)^2 - (4y)^2

= (6x +4y)(6x -4y)
