Can someone explain the difference between a shunt regualtor and a voltage regulator?

Solution

Voltage regulators are used to provide constant output voltage wheather the input or any changes in the load

Voltage regulation can be done in two way

1by uaing zener diode as shuntelement

2 by using series transistor used in series element

Zener diode can\'t used to regulate very low voltages and very high voltages .and by using series pass transisitors current regulation ia also done but power dissupation ia high
