DIVISIBILITY RULES How do you know if something is divisible by ? 2? 3? 4? 5? 6? 7? 8? 9?

Solution

2 ---> last digit must be 0,2,4,6 or 8

3 ---> add all the digits and if that aded value is divisible by 3, then divisible by 3

4 ---> last two digits of the number divisible by 4

5 --> last digit is either 0 or 5

6 --> divisible by 2 and 3(check above)

7 --> Test for divisibility by 7. Double the last digit and subtract it from the remaining leading truncated number. If the result is divisible by 7, then so was the original number. Apply this rule over and over again as necessary.

8 ---> check last three digits. If last three digits are divisible by 8, then number is div by 8

9 --> add all digits, if that digit sum is divisible by 9, then the number is divisible by 9
