What are the reasons why the acutal failure loads and failure behaviours are different from the predicted value of strengthed concrete beams.
What are the reasons why the acutal failure loads and failure behaviours are different from the predicted value of strengthed concrete beams.

Solution

Reasons:-

1.There is little difference between analysis result and experiment result, the reason for error is the difference between the model and the actual specimen. So ANSYS nonlinear finite element analysis can well simulate the loading process of reinforced CRC beam.

2. Finite element analysis and result of experiment all indicated that the reinforced RCC beam has excellent ductility and energy dissipating ability and it can improve the seismic capacity of buildings if it was applied to the structural.

3. In this fem model ignored the bond slip between steel bar and CRC. But it will   inevitably lead to bond failure and slippage occurred once the concrete cracking. So slips between concrete and steel bar can be considered by adopting the spring element if the bond slip is considered.
