What is the function if ionic binds covalent bonds and hydro

What is the function if ionic binds, covalent bonds, and hydrogen bonds in the human body? Explain why each of these three molecules must have its specific types of bonds in order to perform that molecule\'s function

Solution

Chemical bonds are the forces that bind atoms of molecules and compounds together resisting their separation. 3 types of bonds are present in the human body.

Ionic bond :

Formed due to the force of attraction between ions of opposite charge.

Functions: give strength to the body ( bones and teeth) , ionic compounds as electrolytes control water movement, maintain acid- base balance, produce nerve impulse, convert calories into energies.

Covalent bond:

Common type of bonding in human body. Mostly organic matter consists of covalent bonds . Eg - water H2O, CH4

hydrogen bonds:

Polar covalent bond between hydrogen and other atoms. It does not bind atoms into molecules, rather create a link between molecules or between different parts of a large molecule like DNA .
