You will now perform some basic ECG interpretation. Following are two tracings for which you will calculate the heart rate, and determine the duration of key periods of the ECG. When you have completed the activity, answer Check Your Understanding question 7 (p. 462). Identify and label the P wave, QRS complex, T wave, P-R interval, R-R interval, and Q-T interval on Tracings 1 and 2 in Figure 18.6. Calculate the heart rate for each tracing. Are the values normal or abnormal? Heart Rate Tracing 1: _____ Heart Rate Tracing 2: _____ Determine the R-R interval, QRS duration, P-R interval and Q-T interval for each tracing, and record the values in 18.9. Table 18.9 values for ECG Periods
Solution
Answer 1. already marked in question with blue gel pen.
Answer 2 Heart rate of Tracing 1 :- QRS complexes are 6 large boxes apart; therefore, the ventricular heart rate is 5(no.of QRS waves)x 6(seconds)= 30 bpm.
Heart rate of Tracing 2 :- QRS complexes are 6 large boxes apart; therefore, the ventricular heart rate is 7(no.of QRS waves)x 6(seconds)= 42 bpm.
Answer 3 Interval can be determined using the distance,i.e one LARGE box distane is (300beats/min)=0.2 sec
For QRS small 2-3 horizontal boxes.
