With the start of snowy weather a local research group has decided to understand the affect certain factors have on driving conditions and the resulting number of accidents. The factors were temperature and visibility. A Determine the number of levels per factor and the number of replicates. B At an alpha of .05. should the mam effects or interactions plot be used? Why?

Solution

A. There are two Factors in the ANOVA. One is Temp and another one is Visibility.

Facotor Temp has 3 levels, so df of Temp is 3-1 = 2.

Facotr Visibility has 5 leveles, so df of Visibility is 5 - 1 = 5

B. Since the p-value (Temp) = .000 < .05 = , we reject the Factor Temp null hypothesis, and conclude that the level of temp are statistically different.

Since the p-value (Visibility) = .000 < .05 = , we reject the Factor Visibility null hypothesis, and conclude that the level of temp are statistically different.

Since the p-value (Temp*Visibilty) = .000 < .05 = , we reject the Interaction factors Temp and visibility null hypothesis, and conclude that the levels of temp and the levels of Visibility are statistically different. That is, so conclude there are significant differences in the interaction between Temp and Visibility.
