A mutation in a gene would ________ cause change in the sequence of amino acids in a protein. always never sometimes

Solution

a mutation in a gene would sometimes cause a change in the amino acid sequence of a protein.

the reason is, more than one codon codes for the same amino acid. if the codon gets mutated to any one of the codons that too codes for the same amino acid, then there would be no change. otherwise, there would be a change.

for example, CAC codon codes for Histidine amino acid. IF CAC is mutated to CAU, even then it codes for the same histidine aminoacid.

but if CAC is mutated to CAA, it codess for Glutamine, and this changes the amino acid sequence in the protein.
