Suppose 2 3 is on the graph of y fx In Exercises 1 18 use

Suppose (2, 3) is on the graph of y = f(x). In Exercises 1 - 18, use Theorem 1.7 to find a point on the graph of the given transformed function.

12. y = 3f(2x) 1

Solution

Point (2,-3)

f(2x) means the point would become (1,-3) [ The x coordinate gets divided by 2]

3f(2x) means the point would be (1,-9) [The y coordinate gets multiplied with 3]

3f(2x)-1 means the point would be (1,-10) [ -1 means we shift down by 1 unit]

So, answer = (1,-10)
