Us the given graph of f to find the following.

a. Domain/Range

b. Increasing/Decreasing:

c. Local Minimums/Local Maximums: d. Concave Up/Concave Down: e. Inflection Points

Solution

a) Domain/Range :

Domain :
Just check the range of x-values taken on by the function and wirte that in interval notation

Range :
Just check the range of y-values taken on by the function and write that in interval notation

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

b) Inc/Dec :

Wherever the function\'s y-value is increasing, i.e from left to right, the graph is soaring up, these are the regions whre the function is increasing

Wherever the graph is sinking down when viewed from left to right, that is where the function is decreasing

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

c) Local min/max :

These are just the turning points on the graph....
Wherever it is a peak, those are the local maximums
And wherever it is a trough, those are the local minimums

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

d) concave up/down :

Wherever the graph tends to have an UPWARD FACING U SHAPE, that is where it is concave up

And wherever it is DOWNWARD FACING U SHAPE, that is where it is concave down

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

e) Inflection points :

Wherever the graph concavity changes form up to down or down to up, those are our inflection points...

I hope this helped!
