The three- wheel truck is used to carry the 103-kg box as shown. Calculate the changes in the normal force reactions at the wheels due to the weight of the box.

Solution

Suppose force on axle of AB is N then

balancing moment (r x F) about G,

(540 x Nc) - (625 x N ) = 0

N = 0.864 Nc


balancing forces

N + Nc = mg = 103 x 9.8

putting N = 0.864 Nc

0.864 Nc + Nc = 103 x 9.8


Nc = 541.52 N ............ANs


now force on axle AB:

now balancing moment here,

(515 x Na) - (195 x Nb)= 0

Nb = 2.641 Na


and Na + Nb = N = (103 x 9.8 - Nc)

Na + 2.641Na = 1009.4 - 541.52 = 467.88

3.641 Na = 467.88

Na = 128.50 N .........Ans


Nb = 2.641 x 128.50 = 339.38 N ,...........Ans
