Use the graphs of f and g at the right to answer the followi
Use the graphs of f and g at the right to answer the following. a). Find g[f(0)]. b). Find f[g(-1)]. c). Find g[f(-4)]. d). Find f[g(-4)]. e). Estimate the value(s) for x, such that f(x) = g(x). f). Estimate the values for x, such that g(x) > f(x). g). Find the value(s) of x, such that f(x) = 0. h). Find the value(s) of x, such that g(x) = 1. i). Estimate the value(s) of x such that g(x) = 0.
Solution
a) g[f(0)]
from the graph f(0)=0
therefore g[f(0)]=g(0)=-2
b) f[g(-1)]
from the graph g(-1)= 1
f[g(-1)]= f(1)= 2
c) g[f(-4)]
from the graph f(-4)= -2
g[f(-4)] = g(-2) = 2
d) f[g(-4)]
from the graph g(-4)= -2
f[g(-4)] = f(-2)= -1
e) we have to find the value of x at which the two graphs are intersectng
At x=-4 and at x= -.5 the two graphs are intersecting and f(x)=g(x)
f) in the interval(-4,-.5),g(x) > f(x)
g) at x=0,the value of y or f(x)=0
h) at x= -1, the value of y of g(x)= 1
i) at x= -3.5 and at x=-.5 the value of g(x)=0
