The numbers 7, 8, 9, and 11 are written on separate pieces of paper and put into a hat. Two pieces of paper are drawn at the same time and the product of the numbers is recorded. Find the sample space.
S = { }
Solution
So first we need to calculate the number of items that is possible.
So there are 4 pieces of paper and 4 different numbers are written. We need to take out two pieces of paper one after the other. So Number of ways we can take out the first piece of paper is 4C1 and then the second one as 3C1. but we also need to eliminate few numbers as for eg: if 7 is the first number and 8 is the second than the product is 56 , and if 8 is the first number and 7 is the second number then the product is 56 also. So in this case we will consider it once.
So total number of element in S= (4C1X3C1)/2 = (4 x 3)/2 = 6
s={ 56, 63, 77, 72, 88, 99 )
