I am having troube understanding this concept in class.
In a regression analysis where annual wage (outcome) is predicted by number of years of teaching experience, the intercept is 25,000 . Based on this it can be concluded that:
A. A teacher with 40 years’ experience earns $40,000.
B. Wage increases with additional years experience.
C. Teachers will start on a salary of $25,000.
D. More years of teaching experience are associated with higher annual wage.
I tried an equation and don\'t know if its right and don\'t know what my anser means. Annual wages= $25,000 + # of years. Can you please expalin how you get the answer! Thank you!
Solution
A line in slope intercept form will be
y = mx+b where m is the slope and b is the intercept
b = 25000
Hence plug in b to get
y = mx+25000
When x=0 y =25000
i.e. a teacher with 0 years experience get salary 25000.
C. Teachers will start on a salary of $25,000 is right answer.
