What is the difference between UTP and TP? What is the difference between duplex and simplex communication? Define the acronym MODEM. What does it mean and what does it do?
Solution
Ans)
Difference between UTP and TP:
*UTP stands for Unsheilded twisted pair and TP stands for Twisted pair.
*A twisted pair is a pair of copper wires with diameters ranging from 0.4 to 0.5 twisted together and sheilded with a plastic coating. A UTP has 2 to 4200 copper wires.
*Twisted pair is mainly used for transmitting information to large distances where as UTP is used for higher data speeds.
There are two common types of twisted pair cables:
        1.UTP
        2.STP
*STP stands for sheilded twisted pair which additionally shelds the twisted pairs to avoid external interfence. So it is more cost effective compare to UTP.
*UTP is used mostly in offices and homes for teliphone networks as it is less cost where as STP used outside to maintain the bandwidth quality.

Difference between simplex and duplex communnications:
Trere are two types of communications
        1.Simplex communication
        2.Duplex communication
*In simplex communication the communication travels only in one direction. It means satilite to TV broadcasting and FM broadcasting takes place in one way communication in which antenna receives a signals from satilite is one way.
*In duplex communication the communication takes place in two way. The telephone communication is best example of two way communication.
The duplex communication is of two types a)Full duplex and b)haif duplex
-In half duplex communication two way communication takes place but one after the another
-In full duplex communication two way communication takes place simultaneously.

Modem stands for Modulator and demodulator
It means convert digital signals to analogue signals is called modulator and analogue signals to digital signals is called de-modulator.
It is used in telephone wires for converting audio signals from sender to digital signals and digital signals to audio signals at the receiver.
It is also used for networking communications to send data as packets.
