What is the concentration of a 20 glucose in mM and nMSoluti

What is the concentration of a 20% glucose in mM and nM

Solution

Answer :

Given : Molarity of Glucose = 180g/mol

ie. 180g of glucose dissolved in 1 litre of H2O gives 1 Molar Glucose.

20% Glucose means = 20 g of glucose dissolved in 100 mL H2O

Formula

Molarity = (Grams of substance x 1000 mL)/Molecular weight x solution Volume

= (20 x 1000 mL)/180 x 100

=1.1 M

-------------------------

1 M=1000 mM

1m= 1 x 10^9 nM

-------------------------

Therefore

1.1 M= 1100 mM or 1.1 x 10^9 nM
